from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Some individuals have a natural affinity for writing essays... here are some of the tricks they use to write a good essay quickly.
Steps
- Make notecards for each paragraph. If it is a research paper, write down information or bullet notes for what you have found. Label each index card, it is the ultimate way of keeping organized.
- After each note card is done, start to elaborate and make sentences out of each bullet point.
- Type these very rough paragraphs, and double space.
- Make sentences to fit in between, to make the idea or concept flow more easily.
- Pretend that you are handing this essay to someone who has no idea what you're talking about. When you are editing, this makes sure you are explaining everything enough, and going into detail.
- For the opening paragraph, take each of the notes you saved from before and use them to introduce your topic.
- For the thesis, do the best you can, and again, pretend you are writing to someone who has no idea what you are talking about.
- Edit, edit, edit!! Print your essay out, and have at least 2 other people read your work. They may find things that you haven't and you always catch more mistakes when you have a hard copy of it, rather than looking at on from a screen.
Tips
- Joining a writing class is always helpful
- Stay organized.
- Read books about writing.
- Practice practice practice.
Warnings
- Do not plagiarize.
